Position: Early Years Practitioner (Level 2 / Level 3) - 1 Year Old Room
Location: Walton Pre School
Hours: Full-time - Monday - Friday 8.30am -4pm
Salary: £12.71-£12.90
Reports to: Baby Room Leader / Nursery Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Early Years Practitioner (Level 2 or Level 3) to join our new 1 year old room team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care and education for children aged 1-2 years, supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare and Learning
Provide a warm, safe, and welcoming environment for babies and young children.
Support children's learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Observe, assess, and record children's progress.
Act as a key person for a group of children, building strong relationships with them and their families.
Support the child's individual routines, including feeding, sleeping, and personal care needs.
Safeguarding and Welfare
Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and welfare of all children at all times.
Follow Pre School safeguarding policies and procedures, reporting any concerns promptly.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, health, and safety throughout the 1-Year-Old room.
Administer first aid where appropriate and in line with Pre School procedures.
Partnership with Parents and Carers
Build positive relationships with parents and carers through regular communication.
Share information regarding children's development, achievements, and daily routines.
Support settling-in procedures and transitions within the Pre School.
Teamwork and Professional Practice
Work effectively as part of the Pre School team, within the room as well as a whole setting.
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Contribute to maintaining a positive and professional Pre School environment.
Support students, apprentices, or new team members where appropriate.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare (or equivalent recognised qualification).
Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework.
Experience working with children aged 0-4 years in an early year setting.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative when required.
Desirable Requirements
Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Food Hygiene certificate.
Experience as a key person.
Knowledge of child development and attachment theory.
Experience supporting children with additional needs.
